Wow! This book is amazing! Don’t be fooled by the title. This goes beyond! As Katherine lays out amazing systems on how to navigate the world of autism, if you are a parent, then you can still glean from this book! It’s hard to read this book without experiencing it. Katherine Kanaaneh discusses how to be a better parent without neglecting you in the process. She lays out a system to help clear physical and mental clutter so that you can clarify what is important. She goes way out, suggesting apps and resources to make your life easier. From organizational skills (you can tell she was a CPA!) to taking back your email, relaxing, sleeping, reducing stress, this book is packed with action items that will guide you to greater focus and creativity. Heck she even tells you how to use those apps! One thing I liked also is that this author not only deals with how to reduce stress BUT what to do if you are in the middle of a downward spiral. After helping the reader to clarify what is important, the author lays out a system that helps for you to know when to deal with different aspects in life and things to do to have more time each day. You will know how to thrive, enrich your life and grow. Loved it!

This is not about autism or an autism support book. This is a self-help book lauding a bunch of apps to purchase that every once in a while drops in a line about 'as a mama of an autistic child - you must be tired- that's why you need to buy this app! It will change your life!' It has a chapter about how to clean out your closet. REALLY?! What does that have to do with my children? The author pushes readers to purchase an email spam filter app, a meditation app, a tasks app, etc, and there is a chapter for each. If you want an organizational self-help book for women who don't know how to use their email and smart phone, get this. Otherwise, get something else.

I loved this book! It was very easy to read and I couldn't put it down. The writing style is very light even when dealing with such a tough issue. Although, it is specific in her case of dealing with autism and can helped parents with autistic children, her knowledge can also be applied to any situation in life. Her 5 steps are very easy to understand. Step 1 – H: Heal by Learning Step 2 – E: Energize Step 3 – A: Anticipate Step 4 – R: Routines Step 5 – T: Thrive.Katherine was so kind to help me with advice from her book to help my brother whose daughter is in the process of getting fully tested to see if she has autism. Many of the symptoms her Kathryn's son exhibits is very similar to my niece who is currently being tested for autism.The author wrote this book from the bottom of her heart to help other parents who are struggling with their autistic children. She has a heart of gold.

I've bough this book 5 times. I prefer the Teen or Student Edition because it has a short lead in at the beginning of each chapter. For people who are completely new to the Bible. this is a great way to get acquainted with scripture and with the Old Testament in particular, which can be intimidating for new believers. I found it all very readable and enjoyed it and I've read through the Bible 6 times. I recommend it for anyone who loves the Bible.

My teenage son has a friend at his youth group who was reading this version and mentioned he thought he would like it since he felt he could actually sit down and read it. It is made more in story form without verses and such. No it is t going to be verse by verse accurate as it is more of an overall picture. I like that idea as i personally think we are losing the big picture theme of the scriptures as we all want to sit down and discuss what a verse means to us other than true expository bible teaching. But i digress. This isnt for everyday bible use and should definitely be supplemented but if it gets my kid interested in reading scripture and doesnt take the very loose approach to translation as the message bible then i see that as a big plus.

ery unique and interesting way to read the bible. Presented as one full story rather than broken into parts. Written I a way in which teens and anyone reading can easily understand. I loved that it gave a lot of explination of people and places. It really drew you in and made you want to keep reading. The tabs on the side made it easy to find any particular section of the book. The timeline at the bottom of most of the pages really helped keep track of what happened and when. There are fantastic discussion questions and descriptions if characters of the bible. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to read the bible and really get a good understanding of its teachings.

I have the regular version of The Story (based off of the Holy Bible) and I really enjoyed reading it before "tackling" the Holy Bible in a year. My niece requested a bible for her birthday and I chose this one to start because I feel it really makes the word of God interesting for someone diving in fresh. It contains many scriptures just like the bible, but the bulk in a continuing story. It's like the milk before the meat, but I think meat eaters will enjoy it too! It personally has helped me when discipling to speak to the world in parables, like Jesus.I once read an inspiring quote that said, "If you can't explain it simply, you haven't learned it well enough." I think Max Lucado has learned the bible petty well.

It puts the Bible in chronilogical order with the prophets in their proper place and reads like a novel with Gods story tieing in with our lower story. Would recommend it as required reading for everyone. The teen edition is the same as the adult edition except it is a paperback and cheaper.

The Story is very helpful for those who want to get an overview of the whole Bible, but it would be even more helpful to have the books, chapters and verses indicated in the text.

Excellent way to get the big Bible picture in an approachable way.

Easy to read. Around a 5th grade level. It reads as a narrative, sums up and leaves out some of the many words that don't add to the narrative. We are only in "Genesis" so far, but loving it.

(The fact that it won the Newbery Medal doesn't hurt the claim.)In this book, Will Stanton is on his own, recovering from a severe illness that has suppressed the knowledge of his powers and duties as an Old One. Sent to a relative's farm in Wales to recuperate, it is not long, however, before he is set upon the path of another quest - and meets a strange, white-haired, white-skinned local boy named Bran.Will and Bran and face the might of The Grey King - one of the most powerful Lords in service to the Dark - whose hold over the Welsh countryside is both powerful and terrifying. They must find the mythical Golden Harp and use it to wake The Sleepers - soldiers in service to the Light who have lain in slumber for centuries, waiting to be called to do final battle against the Dark.As is true with each successive book in the Sequence, author Susan Cooper seems increasingly comfortable and confident in her writing, and in "The Grey King," she gives us a many-layered story filled with the fantastic, but also shot-through with elements of loneliness and sadness. I adore this book and this series! It's been one of my favorites since I was in grade school. The story itself is rooted in old legends from Wales, and the whole series seems to take in old legends from England, Cornwall, Wales, etc. to make a cohesive story. The series is for youth, much like the Harry Potter books, but equally enjoyable for adults. I love this book in particular because I have always liked linguistics, and this book gives some basic introduction into Welsh. I've read this book at least 10 times and listened to the audio version at least 5. The narrator helps bring the book to life.

I love this series probably more than any other I've read. It could be because my fifth grade teacher read part of this series to us and it was what got me truly interested in reading. This particular book is gorgeous. The imagery and romance of Wales! I remember after reading this I wanted to learn the language and go visit! :). This one is mainly about Will and Bran, though you see a few of the other characters a bit. Later everyone returns to this same setting for the final battle. It's a wonderful story about a budding friendship, growing up and of course battling the Dark.

I've posted this review, in basically this form, for all five of the "Dark is Rising" CD audiobook sets, because there aren't many other reviews of the CD sets. I have all five sets and have been uniformly pleased with the audio quality.I'll skip any summary of this book or of the series; dozens of reviewers have done that quite well. I assume that you are familiar with these books, probably have read this volume, (likely more than once), but now wish to have the book available as an audio CD. Perhaps a long car trip is in the offing? Good for you.I am happy to report that, at least for me, this audio version gets high marks across the board.First, I can hear it and understand it. No mushy sound recording. No odd imbalance in volume that requires you to keep turning the volume up and then down. All of the spoken words are crisp and clear.Second, there are no sound effects or such folderol.Third, there is a single reader. This is not a play for voices and is not read by a number of different character actors.Fourth, Richard Mitchley is an effective reader. There are a lot of Welsh characters in this book and Mitchley gets that across without being so authentic in his accents that he becomes hard to understand. His approach is flavorful but not overly dramatic. Much like Alex Jennings, who read the other four books, he is not coy or arch, and does not ham up any of the big scenes. He succeeds in establishing a distinct and recognizable identity for each character.Finally, the reading is very respectful. By that I mean the book is not read as though it were just some silly children's book. It is treated as the triumphant work that it is and this adds greatly to its weight and impact.Please note that like all of the CD books this reading is unabridged. There are 5 compact discs. Runtime is a bit over five and a half hours.Enjoy.

Loved the book. I have read it ,and The Dark is Rising Sequence, many times as an adult. I am puzzled that it is not better known. I bought it to read with my grandson. He loves the excitement, mystery and magic.

Read this along with my 11yr old, he needed some encouragement. We hadn't read any of the others in the series and still was good. Loved the Welsh references, entertaining and educational.

Thanks to the British narrator, the series lived up to my expectations. My standards are high for transcriptions of favorite books.

I loved this book when I was a child, and my children love it, too.
