The first thing I do when I get a new cookbook is to flip through it checking for pictures and to get an overall feel of the book. This delightful addition to Trisha Yearwood's offerings is bursting with color. The photos are mouthwatering, vivid, and plentiful, including those of Yearwood, I mean, look at her. Beautiful! She mentions that in the last five years she has adopted an 80/20 rule when it comes to dining. 80% of the time she makes good choices, and 20% of the time she allows herself to splurge. Both types of recipes are reflected in this book. Whatever she's doing it seems to be working for both her and her family. Isn't this really what it's all about? Making good choices and sticking to them for the sake of health, but then allowing a splurge or two for the sake of the soul? I need to adopt this platform myself.Reading this book and Yearwood's thoughts and reminisces give you a cozy feeling, like sipping lemonade on a warm summer's day. Down home stories and remembrances precede each recipe. Clearly Yearwood and I like the same food because, with the possible exception of the pickled okra and tofu anything, there was not one recipe that I didn't want to try. And who doesn't love a woman who places Cran-Apple Crisp among the breakfast offerings?The book is easy to navigate. It is divided into nine sections according to meal or type of food: breakfast; snacks and appetizers; soups and salads; beef and pork; chicken, turkey and fish; pasta; sides; cakes, cupcakes and pies; cookies, brownies, bars and more. It also has a comprehensive index in case you are looking for something more specific.I did try many of the recipes, all with great results. This is comfort food -- some of it light comfort food -- at its best. Our particular favorites were Hummingbird Pancakes, Unfried Pickles, Cornbread Chili Casserole, Chicken Tortilla Casserole, and Spaghetti Casserole. Believe it or not, we are generally not a casserole eating family, but we enjoyed every one of these, and I'll be trying more!Recommended.Disclosure: I received this book from Blogging for Books in exchange for this honest review.

I love this cookbook so much. I only recently got into cooking and the recipes it has are easy to follow and delicious. Trisha is such an authentic person and that trait is so evident with this cookbook, and the recipes it contains. I want a Trisha's Table Vol 2!

I have both of Trisa’s other cookbooks and love them as well as her show on Food Network. I’m trying to eat a bit healthier now days so I was thrilled to find she had this one she calls My Feel-Good Favorites for a Balanced Life. No nutritional information in this one, she says she’s a singer and a cook not a nutritionalist. She also says she follows an 80/20 rule of eating healthy 80% of the time while letting herself splurge the other 20%.When my book arrived from Amazon after reading it a bit I decided to make the Hummingbird Pancakes for mine and hubby’s Sunday morning breakfast. We both loved them. I like that there is so much fruit in them and more sliced bananas and strawberries for the topping. I didn’t even need to add syrup to mine as they were delicious. Hubby did add a bit to his along with the leftover crushed pineapple.Next I made Pork Tenderloin with honey mustard glaze. While it was good son and I though a bit on the sweet side for us. It was really tender. After that I made Cornbread Chili Casserole which was very good. I think next time I’ll use my own cornbread recipe though since we prefer our cornbread not sweetened like the boxed kind.Then for my daughter’s and my work lunches I made Orzo Salad which was amazing. Finally I made Beef Stir Fry which hubby and I loved. I did used the option of green beans instead of snow peas since they are cheaper and easier to find here.I’m not though cooking from this one as there are many more recipes I want to try. Things like Edamame Parmesan, Slow Cooker Irish Stout Beef Stew, Wild Rice and Mushroom Soup, Quina Corn Chowder, Spinach Stuffed Shells, Grits and Greens Casserole, Brussels Sprouts with Pistachios, Banana Pudding Cake, and Glazed Lemon Cookies.

What's not to love about Trisha Yearwood"s cooking? She's a Southern girl raised "right" (meaning her family taught her to cook) Love the cookbook and the use of hyperlinks in the font and back to easily find recipes. Love the links to the recipes on the photo page. Favorite recipe is the Hawaiian pancakes. Wow. If you are looking for something different in soups--look here. Tortellini and tomato bisque. Trisha, try tarragon on your homemade croutons. It makes the house smell wonderful. Love the soup section and Julie's pad Thai. (I substituted shrimp for the tofu) Great job I'm looking forward to your next cookbook. I watch you on Saturday"s show with your sister and friends. Love it!

Great book, tons of pictures, and good recipes. They are not all 100% healthy, however she mixes it up with the 80/20 rule which is realistic for most people. I am looking forward to making the tortellini soup.

I now have all three of Tricia’s cookbooks. This one leans more toward healthy meals, which we need to eat more of. Love all three of her cookbooks & her tv cooking show on food network.

Definitely would recommend this book to all home cooks. Southern cooking made easy and delicious. It is my go to cookbook.

Easy to follow recipes using everyday ingredients. Love the additional tips and stories included. All recipes we've fixed so far are very tasty!

I LOVE Trisha Yearwood so I was excited to see she has a cookbook! I've made quite a few recipes so far and haven't found one that I didn't like. Her cornbread chili bake is AMAZING. Highly recommend this cookbook for anyone!
