An ok book. Found one helpful hint. A diet using pellets is not a good plan. I've had two small animal or exotic pet vets tell me greens and Timothy hay only! My rabbits do just fine without those pellets.

Very short on details. Spent way more time talking about the different breed of rabbits aimed at breeders and people show want to show rabbits. Yuck even talks about which rabbits are best for fur coats and meat. If you buy this book to find out about having a rabbit as a pet you probably really don't want to read about the poor rabbits that end up as coats and food. Find a better book about rabbits as pets.

I wish I had found this book back when I first bought a pet rabbit but am SO GLAD I FOUND THIS BOOK. A lot of the other pet rabbit books I’ve ready have been way to simplistic or super-technical but this one offers lots of facts and info. that every bunny parent should know. I read it from start to finish right after I bought it and feel totally comfortable now that I know how to care for my pet rabbit.I also really liked the section on recommended rabbit breeds and the section on litter box training. I have a friend that needs to read the section on “What to do if your rabbit bites” so will be buying a copy of this for her too.This book really helped me to understand my rabbit better and will be a permanent book in my rabbit-knowledge library. It was easy and fun to read, I’ll be looking up the other books by this author!

We have a dwarf Rabbit that has a personality like a person. I recently decided maybe we should research how to take better care of it. Of course it has the best of everything and has even been asking for the new I phone 6. I learned that we immediately need to clip its toenails (Looking forward to that) and why it stomps every time we put it in the hutch for the night. Also, we have been moving it around too much as well as moving the litter box around too much. Now a word from the Rabbit...Thank you Sarah for making my owners much better owners. Maybe now we can sit by the fireplace and I can learn to purr instead of fearing I will soon be dropped in the fire. Did I mention we learned how to hold, carry and handle the animal as well?

I bought this book for my 8 year old daughter for her birthday. I wanted her to read about all the responsibly that comes with a pet rabbit before we bought her one. She and I both loved reading this book. It is very inquisitive and easy to read.I found answers to all my questions and concerns.We did get a floppy ear rabbit name Pudding. ;)

I really liked how basic the information was and how easy it was to learn EVERYTHING about caring for your rabbit and to make sure it lives happily, and healthy.One part in the book I noticed was that it said you could have a cage with a wire bottom which is not true. Cages with wire bottoms with give your rabbit sore hocks (like blisters all over your foot). How would you like to walk around with your foot covered with blisters on a HARD surface? It wouldn't feel good so that SHOULD NOT EVER be recommended.This book is very short (like 100-120 pages on Kindle) and only took me an hour to read and told you everything about rabbits and just told you the facts and didn't give you like 5 pages of details on how to feed your rabbit which I liked, it said the facts and gave you helpful tips but didn't spout nonsense that everyone would just skip over.I got this book for $5.44 on Kindle and it was definitely worth it and I would totally recommend this book to others seeking basic facts about everything rabbit.

I gave this book five stars because it contained all of the information I needed as someone new and totally ignorant to everything rabbits.Long story short, I found a feral baby bunny in my yard close to dusk. I knew enough to either save her or let her be dinner.Thanks to this book, I have been able to learn how she sees the world and do my best to give her the happiest life possible.

The Hanging Valley is the fourth case I have investigated with Chief Inspector Alan Banks, a new favorite of mine.Peter Robinson's writing draws the reader into the book and supports and propels one along the roads in Yorkshire and Toronto with the Chief Inspector. The time in Toronto seems extended and provided so many details that seem to distract from the story, not add to it.Within the initial pages the reader engages with the four characters that form the core of the most likely villains in the book. The Chief Inspector faces the challenge of unraveling their relationships now and from years ago as well as their motives in order to solve the murders in the book. Throughout the book, the reader suspects and eventually learns the extent of evil developed in each character which guides their actions. A feeling persists that some twist in the extent of guilt each character bears will happen and eventually the twist materializes.The author effectively utilizes his skills in character development, plot structure, and location details to write an engaging story.

Very disappointing. Having picked up and enjoyed his 24th book in London, I thought the earlier works were just what I needed when hit by flu. For the most part they are good reads if lacking the subtlety of the latest. This one, however, is simply bad: many one dimensional characters, too long spent on a Cook's tour of Toronto, unbelievable police expense budgets and time (send a policeman to spend a week in a B & B to keep his eyes open? Send another to Toronto without a budget yet somehow he can drink his way around the city?), and unbelievable ciphers of upper class toffs. Having gone to an ancient British university myself I suggest that Mr Robinson needed to do better research and get over his own snobbery before trying to create villains with this background. As others have noted, there is really no ending to this book and there are many loose ends and illogicalities.

The body of a hiker is found at the beginning of "The Hanging Valley," the fourth novel in the long-running Inspector Banks series by Peter Robinson. The man turns out to be an ex-pat living in Toronto, Canada, and he has more connections with the locals in the Yorkshire Dales than Inspector Banks originally suspects; his investigation sends Banks to Toronto, to Oxford and beyond, but he is far behind the culprit and the bodies are piling up…. I’m enjoying discovering this series, about which I had heard but which I’ve only just started to read. This one is less about the relationships between Banks and his colleagues than the previous novels, but those relationships seem fairly well established at this point, so the author was able to concentrate more on the plot this time around. I believe there are something like 22 novels in this series to date, which means I’ve got a lot of books to look forward to; recommended!

I confess that I was led to this series after watching the TV adaptations. I have now read each tome in order up to "The Hanging Valley." Banks is an interesting character study and the reader finds out a little more about him with each book. Here, the complexities of the plot twists dominate. The characterizations are all well-honed and the descriptions of the local settings are wonderful! An added bonus is Banks's brief investigative sojourn to Toronto. This is a well-constructed story that you can really sink your teeth into! I suggest a curl up by the fire with a single malt and lose yourself in the Yorkshire countryside.

I love this series and like the author. Unfortunately, there really isn't a resolution to this episode. I thought perhaps the end of the book was missing so I found another copy. It's true, it just ends. I hoped there would be a resolution in the next in the series, but no luck. I only on number nine - Blood at the Root - so I hope Mr. Robinson will refer to what happened to the people in this edition.Read them anyway!

Good plot, good character development, believable. Excellent ending with something of a surprise thrown in. At least Robinson knows the difference between good and evil, and evil is punished. Love Bank’s character.

I know Robinson can do better so I persevered in reading this one just so I didn't miss out on any development of the Banks character and because I knew the setting would be evocative. I didn't bank (no pun intended) on the excruciating visit to Toronto, which almost pushed me over my willingness to suspended disbelief - how on earth could the police justify that jaunt at the tax-payers expense?! Was happy when he got back to Yorkshire and even happier when he wrapped it all up, no matter how out-of-left-field an ending it was!

One of the great features of Robinson's Banks series is the detail about the English culture and countryside. I imagine that beer lovers enjoy his pub and brewery details. This book has a wonderful side-trip to Canada and a soundtrack. Great narrative and story.

In my time, the leaders of the teen-pack were the mechanically endowed: the fellows who could repair their own cars, could rebuild engines, reform a stock automobile into a thing of fantasy. I suppose today, the teen pack leaders are the computer code literati. My idol was Dick Durant, who drove a 1932 Ford Roadster in gray primer,who worked at Menge's City Service gas station--where I also pumped gas and changed tire chains. While there were other boys with cars that sought to emulate the Barris brother's creations for the West coast, the chopped and channeled 49 Mercuries, or my own 1941 Ford convertible--also kept in gray primer, the top dogs drove the 1932 Ford, whether roadster, coupe or pick-up, that model year was the king's ransom.This phenomenon, the conjunction of Ford's 1932 assembly line with the dreams of emerging youth and young men, spread across the country; the same manifest ions found in California, Florida and in Wisconsin, where I grew-up. We see the world through the lens of memory and everything in our past influences our behavior. While this is not a " how to " manual for solving certain problems step by step with our children, it is a much deeper and longer lasting fix. It helps the reader to self examine and become the kind of parent they want to be instead of the kind of parent that they are programmed to be based on their family history.I think this is a fantastic book for parents that are serious about being the best people they can be for their children. I wish it was written 30+ years ago when I had my first child.If you are fairly intelligent and want to prepare yourself to be the best parent you can be ( any age child ) - do yourself and your kids a favor. Get the book. I wish they taught this stuff in school.

I loved how this book opened. It was about how our childhoods affect how we parent our children. Of course, we all know that, but sometimes we are subconsciously affected in ways we don't realize. Sometimes, we might actively try to correct our parents' wrongs without realizing the negative effects of that reaction. This book makes us more mindful of our actions. It's less of a parenting book (as in how to parent) than a book for understanding ourselves so we can be better parents.At the end of each chapter are exercises and discussion about the science behind it all. My mind numbed a little at times, so you can skip these sections if you want. About midway through the book, I started to feel like the authors droned on a little too long. I get it already; you've made your point. Now how do I put this info to good use? The last quarter of the book, we get some answers, though they are a little vague. There's never really a do it this way or try that. If you want hard core parenting advice, you won't find it here. I found the book useful, though, for making me more self-aware.

I do a lot of work in emotional health and trauma recovery and personally this has been THE biggest game changer of my parenting. It was incredibly easy for me to use my emotional health tools to analyze my child but she was still struggling no matter what I did. I ended up going to therapy JUST to figure out how I could mother such a hard kid and my therapist recommended this book. It is quite difficult for me to read and process but I am hopeful that as I process my own childhood trauma that slowly and steadily I can become a safe place for my daughter. Thank you Dr. Siegel.

This book sheds light on why we act and react in the way that we do when it comes to relationships with our children. It is a nice guide for putting your own life into perspective so that you can bond more deeply with your child. It has been eye opening for me. It is written in a somewhat text book style at a pretty high reading level. It’s very heavy on the neuroscience, which at times can be a tad bit painstaking to decipher and interpret meaning for folks who don’t have any formal scientific background or experience. It also says that it is not a “how to” book but a “how we” book and that is 100% accurate in my assessment. You won’t necessarily learn how to cope with raising your children, you will gain understanding as to why you tend to cope the way that you do cope. This understanding could be very helpful in helping you raise coherent, emotionally secure children. Since starting this book, my capacity for empathy and understanding for both my son and myself has grown immensely. My bottom line on this book is that it is good background knowledge and especially helpful for people who have a sense of unresolved issues from their own childhood. Wouldn’t recommend this as a first book to reach for if you are struggling with parenting issues however. It’s more for people who are looking for deeper resolution to problematic patterns in their parenting journey and for people who enjoy and appreciate neuroscience.

My dil had this book on her wish list and I couldn't refuse. This book has been extremely helpful for me. I did not read the whole thing because it got a bit too slow about halfway through, but the first half is worth 5 stars. There are a lot of things that happened in my childhood that I would brush off as irrelevant to my life now, but when I really examine them and come to terms with the good & the bad that is when I know I can grow past them and be the parent that I want to be.I have been a gentle, attachment-oriented parent since having my first baby 6 years ago. But I found that I would sometimes get unbelievably angry at my children, completely out of proportion with the situation, and I couldn't control myself. I would lash out and scare them (though never physically hurt them). I didn't want to be this way, but I didn't know how to stop and to be frank it felt a little good... like I was getting something out when I was yelling at them. Reading this book helped me to understand where those flashes of anger came from. I came by them honestly, just as my parents did. But my parents never bothered to learn how to control themselves. I am now doing MUCH better. When I get angry I clench my fists and yell silently at the sky, then deal with my children in a more subdued way. Sometimes i tell them I am feeling angry, but I no longer scare the pants off them. And I really credit reading this book.

This book contained great explanations for why we fall into particular patterns and I did enjoy having the references to be able to dive in and study more, but I wanted more "how to" than "why" or "what" answers.

This is a very good summary. I'm skeptical about movies that are summarized into children's book, because sometimes the plot ends up choppy and over-edited. Not in this case -- the narrative flowed well enough and the layout of the pictures and text was suitable to keep a kid (my 4-year-old) entertained.

Cute story that picks up after the events of Finding Nemo. It's a nice continuation on what happens afterwards, and it makes things come full circle for everyone. Nice artwork within that is different from the Big Golden Book version.

Nice illustrations. The length and complexity of language you would expect from a Golden Book. Well-constructed.

My son was not quite old enough to see this in the theater, but we are excited to get the dvd. However he loves finding nemo and has been very excited to see all of his favorite characters in stores. This is one of his new favorite books. It is a classic golden books version of a Disney movie. Enjoy!
