I read the required text and then read this short version that is written in "English" and i have such a better understanding of the disease process. amazing book!

This is a really great book to refresh your knowledge for your clinical practice. I stumbled onto reading this book after reading What I Wish I Knew about Nursing which is an amazing collection of nurses sharing their stories about what they wish they knew about nursing when they first started! The Basics is just what it says, a reference full of comprehensive lists you can refer back to for information on just about everything to do with nursing practice. A kind of 'Nursing 101' if you will. So while I'm sure it'll be great to jog my memory for the exams, I'll definitely keep it on hand long past then. !

Helpful book for Kaplan tests, the lay out is good, simple and straight forward. Don't rely on this book to be everything on Kaplan tests, doesn't cover all.

I love the format of this book. You read through your nursing book chapters and after you read a section, you can think to yourself, "so what did I learn from that section" in 1-2 sentences. And THAT is what is in this book. VERY clear and concise key points and short summaries that help you get the most pertinent information. Great tool. (There's a smart phone APP available for NCLEX-RN study, too.)
