About the Author

Martha Collison is the youngest ever baker on The Great British Bake Off – she made it all the way to the quarter finals whilst studying for her AS Levels! Martha is a self-taught baker who started cooking at the age of eight – the result of her brave parents letting her loose in the kitchen and enjoying the (sometimes mixed) results. Wonderful baking cookbook. I bought this for my daughter and she absolutely loves it and has baked several things out of it already. I may need to step up my exercise program!

I received my copy today and just made the Whiskey and Rye Chocolate Chip Cookies...that recipe is worth the purchase alone!!!!!!

Intrigued by the show, we were tickled to learn several of the contestants have authored their own cookbooks. Martha is a particular favorite and her personality shines thru the pages. Love it!

A beautifully written book with yummy, clearly written recipes. She also clearly explains the baking science behind many of the recipes, which I really appreciate. This book is a great buy!!

I got the imported UK copy as soon as it was released overseas. I've been a fan of Martha since her GBBO days as was excited for her follow-up book because I wasn't really thrilled with "Twist". This book is similar to her first book, Twist, with a few exceptions. There are recipes for savory dishes like cheese and bacon potato skins, gourgère (the cheesy version of chouquette), or mango and pawn filo cups. There are no "twists" on classic recipes like a pie or cake but instead, the book focuses on cravings like: alcohol, fruit, citrus (No idea why this wasn't just combined with the fruit chapter), cheese, chocolate, caramel (If you love caramel, there's an entire chapter of recipes), spice (sadly, no carrot cake recipe), and nuts. The book is very dessert heavy so I found it a bit uneven in terms of other recipes I want to try. The gingerbread blondie recipe was good but called for an alarming amount of sugar so I reduced it and the result was still good. There are some interesting recipes like passionfruit Viennese whirls but some sound downright odd like Blackcurrant and peanut macarons. If you really enjoy desserts then this book is probably a good choice. The photographs are beautiful but I don't know how often I'd reach for this book compared to other books in my collection. This is a better book than "Twist". If you want a real baking book, I highly recommend "Crumb" by Ruby Tandoh, also of GBBO fame. I've used this book often and its results and advice have never failed me. 3.5 out of 5 stars for "Crave".
