I bought the item thinking it was the actual book itself, so it was an accidental purchase actually...I was going to look into returning it but it would cost $4 to mail it and it only cost $10 so I'd only get $6 back and considering that I just purchased the genuine book and am waiting for it, I've already waited a few days for the book, I'm just going to keep the participants guide. I haven't read it yet , it looks like it'll be useful for small groups and devotionals though...may help with some sermons.I wasn't glad to find out that it follows along with a dvd that amazon doesn't sell with the purchase, but it does explain why it is so cheap. There's an ISBN on the back of the book for the cd but I don't understand if that can actually be of any help with the cd.N.T. Wright is an excellent scholar though so I don't entirely mind having anythin of his work in my possesion, i bought the participants guide because i saw it was $10 online and got excited about it's cheapt price without realizing it was'nt the entire book as well.But ah well ...

This would not even get two stars except that it included a video of the author leading the lessons. The original book speaks for itself quite well.

A favorite!

A brilliant book all the way through, filling in holes that I wasn't aware were in my eschatology. But what I really loved were his concluding comments about a missional eschatology.

Delves into an aspect of Christian belief that is often overlooked or misunderstood.

I started this book with a little trepidation about the subject matter. Fortunately, it is so well written and his presentation so compelling that I find myself with more hope now than ever before in my 62 years on earth, 55 of them as a believer. I rated this high because of his humble attitude about presenting his solid if not a little bit off the beaten track, views about where our hope as believers should truly lie. I participated in a discussion group with friends about the material in this book and loved our time together centered around lively discussions!

I am a fan of N.T. (Tom) Wright. This DVD is very well produced. He is very articulate and clear. Setting is appealing. Easy to follow. One of the best.

This book was for a class but it was difficult to read. I think the author has unique ideas on this subject

This book gives an amazing introduction to Delphi language and is really well written.The author has large experience with the language and explains everything in a clear, simple, and fun (yes, fun) way.It's hard to find a good and recent book on Delphi. I've tried a few and this one is really good.I read this book (Part 1) in Kindle Cloud reader and it worked really well, but if you plan to buy the three parts of the book, let it be known that the second part is not readable in cloud reader (it's the only Kindle book I have that is incompatible: parts 1 and 3 work, but part 2 doesn't).

The basics were well explained, studying part of this book was very helpful to code my first projects.

The book came in 3 downloadable PDF files and work perfect on my Kindle. The information had been good to have and it reviews and compares some older versions to the features of XE2. I could not find the same for XE3 so this has been a great purchase.

Well, to be fair it is the only Delphi book in years, but that is besides the point. This is a very strong book it covers all the basics of the language both structured and OOP in detail. After reading this book the only thing you will need is experience. The reason I didn't give this book 5 stars, is that while it is very good, and worth every bit of the purchase price and then some, it didn't absolutely knock my socks off, and that is what I reserve 5 stars for.

Congratulation. A Book with a very professional structure. Clear, direct. I'm sure that will help me in my targets.I bought already the other parts (part 2 and 3).

I bought these books as references for the Delphi Programming Language. I find the text hard to follow in this format. It's not easy to go back and forth in the same way as a printed book. I should have bought the print edition.

UPDATE (after some months):I find myself spending more and more time in the different books and it is becoming my main reference on certain topics. I'm upping my rate from a 3 star to a 4 star. The 1 star missing is only because of the font size issue I still have on my Kindle. It's just happening on Part 1 and 2.The good: :-)After years of moving on from programming, I decided to get back into it using Delphi XE2. These books are ideal for someone like me who just need that little nudge and recap, as well as one who would like to catch up on what happened since Delphi 7 :-)That said, do not under estimate the series as it covers a lot of good topics.Now for the bad: :-(I bought these books to read them on my Kindle, but it seems that the formatting was done so bad that I had to scale up my font to maximum just to be able to read it. I really think the guys should look at this and fix it ASAP. One can read it on the Kindle App for Windows without any problems, though.The ugly: :-pNow, after 2 weeks of pondering, I decided to give it another go .. I'm going to buy the first book again as I really want to get up to speed with Delphi again.Hope this helps!

The recipes I've made so far are tasty and easy. The book is broken out by pregnancy symptom, which is helpful, but I wish it was broken up by meal-part instead. Sometimes I'll be on the lookout for a simple dinner and I have to shuffle through the whole book before I find it. My only other gripe with the book is that there are no photos of the food like a traditional cookbook would have.

This is a fantastic book for pregnant women, but also an excellent book for just about anyone! Yes, the recipes are designed and grouped together for easing certain pregnancy symptoms, but I'm sure that I'll continue to whip up these meals and snacks long after my pregnancy. They are not only healthy and clean but well-balanced and well-explained (I'm not much of a chef so I need all of the guidance that I can get!) and include ingredients that you can actually find at your local grocery store (even including tips on where to locate some of the less common ingredients). The book also includes general healthy cooking and healthy eating tips. I highly recommend purchasing it! You won't be disappointed.

Yet another book that offers ridiculous ingredients that are both unappealing and usually require several different stores to find, not to mention more expensive. I gave it away. Made maybe one thing out of it honestly. Waste of money, look on Pinterest for healthy, TASTY meal ideas.

This cookbook is awesome! It has creative recipes for all meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert) and it has a lot of helpful and useful information for a first time pregnant lady. I would highly recommend. Almost all of the recipes I have made so far have tasted amazing. I am really impressed and glad I purchased this book to keep me healthy throughout my first trimester, and the rest of my pregnancy.

This book is a tremendous resource for pregnant women who want to have...as the title states, "A Healthy, Happy Pregnancy".A lot of thought and research went into creating these recipes.Willow and Stephanie are well recognized experts in the field of nutrition. Now that they have both experienced pregnancy, they're in a perfect position to share this added knowledge.As a chiropractor who takes care of may pregnant moms, I highly recommend this book.

Much of the reason I ask the book questions is to invigorate thinking about something I need to explore. Beyond all the semi-logical reasons for owning The Book Answers is just that it is fun to play with, it certainly adds to conversations!

I did not purchase this book from Amazon, but I wanted to post a review here for others to see. When I need reassurance or affirmation of a decision or choice - I pick up this book.How it started... I happened to see this book at our local Costco and flipped to a page that fit my situation exactly. This inspired me to take a picture of the book and the page and post it onto my social media account. And magically this book came to me as a gift. I had my mom and my husband use the book and they both thought it was very fun and interesting. This book would be a cute gift.

This is like having a magic 8 ball on your desk, but with sooo many more options. Hilarious to have around, over time I have bought several copies as gifts.

I am a big fan of the brief time of the romantic West and accounts of the relationship/raw deal the only true natives this land has known got at the hand of the their conquers.....and I guess I was expecting something more, as the title lead me to believe....the whole story seemed to dance around an issue, that while it may be the most accurate account, I feel could have been approached differently, or at least have had a more accurate title.....perhaps something like 'The Events The Lead Up to the Brief Friendship of the Blood Brothers: Sitting Bull and William Cody'....a little less about Cody and more about Sitting Bull....kind of an even handed rendering......

I really did like this book. I started with hardback and switched to digital. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in the 1880s

The book was not as well written as I anticipated. The bond between Buffalo Bill and Sitting Bull is well documented, but the connection was somewhat disjointed.

Blood Brothers is a great work of synthesis. I was amazed how much ground the author covered in so few pages, without sacrificing any key element, from the Little Bighorn to the backstory of Annie Oakley. Someone who knew nothing of those events and figures would come away with a clear understanding. And of course, as anyone familiar with Ms. Stillman's writing would expect, it was beautifully written.

--------------------Note from November 26, 2017: I cannot believe how many other reviewers are giving this book high marks and stating how great it is and how well researched. The ignorance is astounding. But it explains the persistence of supernatural religion despite how clearly false it is. Apparently, most people just don't care about facts and truth or the closest that we can get to them. This book is clearly not a case of the latter. But just look at the shameless plugs.--------------------When I picked this book up at a nearby store that gets advance copies of books, the author's photo in the back made me think of Sedona, AZ (land of new age woo woo), and of the Long Island medium (she claims to talk to the dead) for some reason. But I collect books so bought it anyway. I started to read it that night. On p. xiii the author wrote: "I have communed with wild horse herds…" I started to worry...Now before I continue, it is expected that history books -- even those written by historians well-steeped in the topic -- will contain some errors. It just happens. Sometimes it's just a typo and sometimes it is an error of fact. But with this book many of the errors don't feel like simple accidents but more like the author doesn't really know the history so is perhaps a bit overwhelmed with getting things right. When Stillman writes that the Grand Duke Alexis set sail for America in August of 1872, I know that she means 1871. But when she calls Bloody Knife a Crow Indian (p. 79) and mistakes the Arikara scouts for Crows (p. 75), states that Myles Keogh is from Garryowen, Ireland (p. 81), says that the Apaches are known for taking scalps (p. 86), thinks that the Nez Perce "had been holding out for months along the Canadian border" (p. 100), that cavalry officer Eugene Asa Carr was perhaps the most famous Indian fighter of them all (p. 181), that Fire Cloud was of the Blackfoot Nation (p. 194), instead of the Blackfeet tribe of Sioux/Lakota (for those really into tribal affiliation, I have also seen it listed that a Fire Crow was Hunkpapa, assuming they are the same man), and lastly that thousands of Indians were gunned down in massacres in U.S. Cavalry attacks (p. 182) (not to downplay the numbers, but I'm fairly certain this is an exaggeration), I know that she doesn't really know her topic that well. Yes, none of that is directly related to the main theme of the book (which, by the way, is perhaps overblown since the two men were only together for about 4 months). He wouldn’t have happened upon the dead buffalo left behind from the Grand Duke’s hunting trip.p. 87Regarding the Cheyenne Indian killed by Cody on July 17, 1876: His correct name (or at least the one that is now accepted as accurate) was Yellow Hair, not Yellow Hand (she gives both names then prefers Yellow Hand).p. 100Crazy Horse surrendered at Fort Robinson on May 6, 1877, not May 7.p. 187 (top)"shortly before the cataclysm at Wounded Knee” should read “shortly after…"Okay, now here are some examples of what I will refer to as new-age/mystical thinking (this is not a complete list and I don't think they belong in a history book; one such comment could be "cute" but it quickly grew tiresome):p. 79"When exactly he [Crazy Horse] arrived at the [LBH] fight is a mystery; perhaps, as per his vision, the gopher dust made him disappear until he galloped onto the battlefield."p. 98"... and overhead a falcon may have ridden the current, for that was one of Sitting Bull’s protectors, and surely the winged and the four-leggeds would have been on guard in some way, alerted by a derangement in their surroundings and the silent news that an important member of the circle [Sitting Bull] would be leaving it for a while."p. 101"It was the most treacherous weather some had seen in years, nature’s response to the departure of a thunder dreamer -- Sitting Bull, who years later would perform a ceremony that ended a drought."p. 117Stillman writes about friendship (meaning between Sitting Bull and Buffalo Bill) and then states: "... there are those [friendships] in which mysterious forces, the hand of the Creator [please explain] perhaps, necessity, desire, brings two people together, even former enemies…" Talk about nonsense. It wouldn’t be a stretch then that the “creator” did this just so that Deanne Stillman could eventually write this book. It was her preordained destiny.p. 136"Little Miss Sure Shot was bound to be a superstar, for it is inside the act of pulling the trigger that America resides. Mysterious are the forces that lead us to one another, at certain times, for certain reasons, and looking back on that era, it would seem that Sitting Bull’s meeting with Annie Oakley in St. Paul was written on the winds, for without that nickname she would have been billed differently, and quite possibly different things would have happened." The "pulling the trigger" quote is pretty good. But the rest of this quote implies a creator who is causing things to happen. In effect, this makes us all just puppets playing out someone else’s drama. Of course, with all the possibilities of things that could happen in the universe, there are going to be what look like fortuitous events in hindsight. The question is, was it a natural event or was some mysterious force guiding it? And if that last point is true, then really, everything that happens was just meant to happen, good, bad or otherwise. I just don’t believe that. This is a case of counting the hits and disregarding the misses. Sure, there’s going to be some nice hits such as Annie Oakley being given the name Little Sure Shot by Sitting Bull. That doesn’t mean there is anything else going on here, some mysterious force that caused it to happen. If so, then the same mysterious force caused me to write this review.Did I like anything in the book? Yes, here and there. For instance, this made me laugh: As a boy Cody engaged "in tasks and acts that would now violate every child labor law on the books" (p. 33). A great line. And I like this paragraph from p. 143 that starts with: “The primary attraction of course was William Cody, who seemed to fulfill a national need for one man to step forward from the stage of Manifest Destiny and own it." A paragraph worth quoting. Those two I took note of. I'm sure there were a few more. This book could just as easily have been a magazine article about the relationship between Sitting Bull and Cody. And unless it was going to be published in some new age magazine, the author would be best served by just sticking to the historical facts (and keeping any conjecture in the land of reality).I've got about 25 pages to go.I'm sure the author is a very nice woman. But this isn't my kind of book.

Pros: Easy to find words. Abbreviations and gazeteer appendices very useful.Cons: This is a pretty good college dictionary, but there have been a number of words that I could not find. For thoses words, I ended up getting my laptop out and going on line. I docked one star. They mailed me a July, 2006, edition with which I was not very happy about - that's eight years old! Certainly not worth the money I paid. I docked one more star. I do not recommend that you purchase any dictionary that Amazon does not provide the publication date. It uses a poor grade of dirty recycled of paper. It is not easy to read without bright light. I docked one star. It might be that it's because it's already eight years old, but then it shouldn't be sold that old.

Very good and handy little dictionary. I look up a lot of old or unusual words and have found just about everything in this book. I also like the little boxes on almost every page explaining differences is usage between similar sounding words. And they also contain interesting information of the origin of some words. Definitions are succinct and to the point. It is also the right size to thumb through quickly and find what you're looking for.

My wife had a huge dictionary in a drawer that I needed to use but there was no space. We bought this edition and it was perfect for the application we wanted to use it for....

Let's be clear: I'm reviewing "New American Webster Handy College Dictionary, 4th Edition (Newly Revised)". Amazon's crossed this dictionary's reviews with those of a thesaurus, and I hope Amazon is working on a correction.The word "college" in the title is a saddening sign of the times. It might pass in a vo-tech school or a community college, but this one isn't for the Ivy League. In fact, I wouldn't recommend it as a primary resource for even a fairly advanced middle school pupil. Simply put, it's a short dictionary with limited paper to put definitions on. The cover describes the definitions as "clear", but "concise" would be more forthcoming.Here's a simple example of what's wrong with this dictionary:sup-pos"-i-ti'tious [pronunciation] adj. 1, pretended; spurious. 2, supposed. Also, sup"po-si'tious [pronunciation]My problem here is that this dictionary missed the essential difference between the words suppositious and supposititious. The former essentially means "supposed", while the latter implies intent of fraud -- which in light of the publisher's claims for this dictionary seems strangely appropriate.
